Sherry Lynn Moyer, 65, gained her angel wings on December 27, 2025, at home in Olney, Maryland. Born on October 22, 1960, in Washington, D.C., Sherry lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Sherry was the devoted wife of Jay Moyer, with whom she shared a deep and enduring bond. She was an affectionate and caring mother to Matthew Walker-Moyer and Craig Walker-Moyer of Lake Worth, Florida; Jessica Crown and John Crown of Olney, Maryland; Brooke Wilhide and Bob Wilhide of Fairfield, Pennsylvania; and Amber Moyer-Knight and Shawn Knight of Hagerstown, Maryland. Her love extended to her many grandchildren—Corbin and Cameron; Dakota Lynn and Jay Jay; C.J., also known as PEANUT; Logan and Grace; Kiley and Layton—and great-grandchildren Waylon, L.J. and Baby Wilmoth on the way. She also cherished her sister Anita Gonyea, lovingly known as Sissy. Along with Joy & Ed Zwicker and Curtis & Melissa Moyer (Jay's Siblings).
Sherry's nurturing spirit embraced not only her immediate family but also numerous nieces and nephews, countless adopted children who found comfort in her care, and her beloved furry child Ms. Peepers. Her heart extended even further to her grand-animals: Gabby, Kobe, Phoenix, Whiskey, and Summer.
She was preceded in death by her mother Patricia Brickhouse; brothers Russell Hancock and Brian "Bubba" Brickhouse; father-in-law Doug Moyer; and mother-in-law Irene Moyer.
Sherry had a zest for life that shone through in everything she did. She found joy in karaoke nights singing songs like "Fancy" and "Chain of Fools" where her voice brought smiles to many. Her creativity flourished through coloring and crafting—activities she often shared with those closest to her. Time spent with her best buddies Donna and Marybeth was treasured deeply. Above all else, Sherry valued every moment she could spend surrounded by family.
Her passion for helping others led her to become an integral part of The Fraternal Order of Eagles in March of 1983—a second family that held a special place in her heart. Alongside Jay, Angie, Sally, and Fran, Sherry contributed to numerous meaningful initiatives that left a lasting impact on the lives of many. She went on to serve as Madam State President from 2000-2001 and Madam Regional President from 2009-2010. During her time, she was able to work with multiple charities such as, Make-a-Wish Foundation and more recently helped support the creation of The Lisa Marie Howard Grant Fund.
Sherry spent her last few years taking care of her husband Jay of 40 years and cherished every moment that she shared with him. They spent time watching movies, wandering around outside and bringing Jay home as much as possible to spend time with the family. In her final days, watching her favorite holiday movie "White Christmas" with her daughter on Christmas morning, then spending the day surrounded by family and loved by her family.
A celebration of Sherry's life will be held at The Fraternal Order of Eagles in Brunswick on January 24th, 2026, at 1pm, located at 401 Central Ave, Brunswick, MD 21716.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to The Lisa Marie Howard Grant Fund—an organization close to Sherry's heart that continues her legacy of compassion by supporting those in need. You can donate at the following link: https://bit.ly/FOE3509donation
