Sherry Silver (née Komins), 89, of Torrance, California, passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 19, 2025. Born in Los Angeles in February 1936, Sherry lived a full and vibrant life marked by curiosity, creativity, and devotion to her family.
A proud graduate of UCLA with a bachelor's degree in K-8 Teaching and a member of the Phi Sigma Sigma sorority, Sherry began her career as a teacher before later becoming a successful real estate investor. Her professional path reflected her lifelong love of learning and her sharp eye for opportunity.
Sherry's passions extended far beyond work. She was an avid traveler who found joy in exploring new places, especially the mountains. At home, she delighted in decorating for Christmas, Hanukkah, and Halloween, turning each season into a celebration. She loved dogs, played tennis with enthusiasm, and carried a spirit of adventure into every corner of her life. A collector of cherished things, Sherry surrounded herself with meaningful treasures that reflected her appreciation for beauty and memory. She also had a deep love for wildlife, finding wonder in the natural world and supporting causes that protected it.
Sherry was the beloved mother of Steven, Richard, and Gary, and the cherished grandmother of Eugene, Elliot, Shayna, Ryan, Madison, and Alex. She was also the devoted sister of Michael. Sherry's warmth, humor, and generosity left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sierra Club or City of Hope, causes close to Sherry's heart.
