Shirley Ann Moore

1939 - 2025

We honor and remember the life of Shirley Ann Moore (nee Sickman), a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who passed away following a long journey with Alzheimer's disease. Throughout her life, she was known for her big heart and strong devotion to God and to her family.
Shirley was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin, and graduated from high school in Rochester, Minnesota. It was there that she and her husband of 67 years, Joe, raised their three children, Mike (wife Sandy), Mitch (wife Tracy), and Susie (husband Mark). Family remained the center of her life, and she took great pride in her seven grandchildren: Shauna, Paul (partner Jake), Molly (husband Tony), Ryan (partner Celine), Tim (wife Faith), Andrew, and Ava; and two great-grandchildren: Lenora and Rudy.
For the past 30 years, Shirley and Joe made their home in Mahtomedi and White Bear Lake, Minnesota. As her illness progressed, her care was supported by their granddaughter, Shauna, whose steady presence and attentive care meant a great deal to the family. When her care needs moved beyond what could be managed at home, Shirley transitioned to Boden of Maplewood, where she received exceptional care. The staff treated her with dignity and kindness, becoming an extension of her family, for which they are deeply grateful. Later, while in hospice at the memory care facility, she also received care from Vicky, whose compassion and dedication to Shirley brought comfort to her and peace to her family.
Shirley enjoyed watching sports, especially NFL, MLB and the X Games. She was a diehard supporter of the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. She loved music, traveling, trips to the casino, and time spent near the ocean. She found beauty in simple things — the moon in any phase, watching birds, and admiring flowers.
She will be remembered for her love of family, her tenacious spirit and her warm smile. Her memory will continue through those who knew her and loved her. A celebration of life will be held in the spring, with the promise of new flowers, birds returning to Minnesota, and the quiet presence of the moon.
