April 2, 1930 - January 5, 2025

Shirley Jean Clark was born on April 2, 1930 in Denver, Colorado, to Ernest Lee Hays and Alice Dewey Hays, making her a third generation Coloradoan. She grew up with a deep love for her home state that stayed with her throughout her life.
A gifted student, Shirley was a Boettcher Scholar at East High School. She went to both Colorado State University and the University of Colorado where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
Throughout college, she spent summers working as a wrangler and camp counselor at Camp La Foret in the Black Forest outside Colorado Springs, and later at Stead's Ranch in Rocky Mountain National Park where she met Ralph Clark whom she later married.
Shirley enjoyed gardening and was a loyal fan of the Denver Broncos and the New York Yankees. She also excelled at knitting, needle point and French cooking. Whether tending to her gardens or cheering on her team she embraced the simple pleasures that made up her life.
Shirley built a meaningful career as a medial technologist at the University Park Medical Clinic where she made many friends over the years.
She was a devoted mother to her three daughters, Kathy Cark (Jeff Weisenburger), Carol Clark (Bill Swenson), and Lisa Look (Randy), and a devoted grandmother to grandchildren Bennett Look and Karli Swenson. Family was central to Shirley's life, and she took great pride in her children and grandchildren.
We will remember her for her intelligence, independence, and being a rally good Mom. Her legacy will live on through her family and all who were fortunate to know her.
