Shirley Ann King (Pylkkanen)

Shirley Ann Pylkkanen, 79, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on December 31,2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born in Duluth, Minnesota on December 4, 1946. She graduated from Waukegan Township Highschool in the class of 1965. She married Richard King on February 19th, 1984. They were married 42 years.

She loved her hobbies of golfing, bingo, traveling, camping and her game shows on television. She was selected to be on The Wheel of Fortune and actually won the showcase. Most of all she loved her family.

Shirley is survived by her sister, Candy Fishman, her daughter Kristine (Matthew) McNerney, step-sons, Todd (Wendi) King, and Scott King, niece Kaleigh (Jake) Noll and numerous grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Richard KIng on December 24, 2025 (a week before her passing). Her parents, Esther (Kane) Pylkkanen and Arne (Kane) Pylkkanen.

Shirley and Dick had a true love story. Their love story ended here on earth but it was only a week for them to reunite again.

Shirley lived in the moment and always with a smile on her face. She had medical hardships since her car accident in 2003 that changed her life and health for her remaining years. She never complained for what she had to endure. She faced life's challenges with grace and humor. Shirley was such a brave strong woman. Everybody loved Shirley and she was always fun to be around.

Shirley will be greatly missed. Her love and laughter will live on.

A Celebration of Life for Shirley and Dick will be held on February 21st at 2:00 p.m. at her daughter's house, Kristine McNerney. 4521 E. Ficus Way, Gilbert, Arizona.
