Shirley Lloyd

On February 18, 2026, Shirley Wannieta Lloyd of Pleasant Hill, California, passed away at the age of 97.

Shirley was born on November 25, 1928, in Renwick, Iowa, the second oldest of six daughters. She was known for her strong work ethic, working as a waitress and a nurse's aide, even reporting to work during severe blizzards that stopped bus service. In the 1950s, she vacationed in California, fell in love with its sunshine, and made it her permanent home. On August 31, 1957, she married the love of her life, Norman Lloyd. Together they raised two children and built a life centered on family. Shirley took pride in caring for her home and was an avid gardener who fastidiously tended her many plants. She also enjoyed country and gospel music.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Irene Selk; her son, Robert Lloyd; her grandson, Zachary Selk; and her son-in-law, Travis Selk. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lloyd; her mother, Jennie Mae McLoud Knutson Barnett; her father, George Ward Knutson; her step-father, Raymond Barnett; and her sisters, Darlene Nielsen, Betty Klingson, Evelyn Foster, Lenore Tegland, and La Vonne Hutchinson.

A private burial service will be held at the family's request at San Joaquin National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
