Shirley A Smith "Nookie" was born May 4,1945 to Chaney (Thomas) Edwards in Tuscaloosa,AL. She was called home to reunite with her three children Melvin, Laura and Heather Smith, Ma Mary Alice Jones, sister Carla Evans and grandson Malik Smith. She lives to cherish grandchildren Raegan(Ronnie), Tiera(Che), Joseph, Dariantae, Daimontae Rembert, Dorian Domonique,Devin and Candice McCoy. 2 bestfriends Kay Smith and Linda(Robert) Boone, special nieces Jasmine Evans and Chyann Roy, 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Grandma you will be truly missed. Visitation will be on Saturday March 7,2026 from 9:30a.m. and Funeral Services on Saturday , March 7, 2026 at 11:00am. Both will be held at Powell and Coleman Funeral Home, 3200 W 15th Ave, Gary, IN.
