After the death of her husband in 2009 and the death of her son in 2020, Shirley moved to Spokane, Wa to live near her daughter. She found a wonderful place - Fairwinds Retirement to live in Spokane and loved getting to know every tenant. She became the leader of their walking club, went to daily exercise classes, church services and going to Bible study. Shirley loved wearing purple and was known at Fairwinds as Miss Purple.
