Our beloved daughter, Sigfridur Alana Byrd, passed away at her home in Port Orange, Florida on January 20, 2026. She was born on September 23, 1992 in Panama City, Florida and from the moment she entered this world, she filled it with light.
A graduate of Jamestown High School in Williamsburg, Virginia, Sigfridur Alana was a dedicated and driven young woman. She was a small business owner and operator of a vape shop in Tappahannock, Virginia before pursuing her passion for understanding the human mind. In 2024, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Florida International University graduating cum laude as a member of Tau Sigma National Honor Society, where she also served as an APA Campus Ambassador. At the time of her passing, she was continuing her education working towards a Master of Science in Psychology.
Sigfridur Alana was truly one of a kind--beautiful, brilliant, and deeply kind. She possessed a rare creativity and an inquisitive mind, excelling in her studies and embracing life with imagination, passion, and purpose. She had a bright future before her and she carried her dreams with quiet strength and grace. More than her talents, Sigfridur Alana's greatest gift was her heart. She loved deeply and generously, and her presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to all fortunate to have known her. She had a way of making others feel seen, valued, and understood.
She was taken from us far too soon, without warning, leaving behind an immeasurable emptiness where her love once lived. The world feels dimmer without her light, but her spirit, kindness, and love will remain with us always.
Sigfridur Alana is survived by her husband, Evan Dean; parents Michael and Sigfridur Byrd; her brother and his wife Sveinbjorn R. and Keli Byrd; her niece and nephew, Skyla Elise Byrd and Lucas Roy Byrd ; many uncles, aunts, cousins, and loved ones whose lives are forever changed by the loss of her radiant spirit.
Our love for her is endless and beyond measure. May we to hold close those we love and to care for one another, especially in times of quiet struggle.
A memorial service for Sigfridur Alana will be announced at a later date.
