Sol Kirschner passed away on April 7, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on August 2, 1935, in New York City, Sol moved to Memphis as a child, where he formed lifelong friendships and began building the foundation for a remarkable life. Alongside a childhood friend, he co-founded a multi-state auto parts distributorship, an early reflection of his entrepreneurial spirit, determination, and ability to build lasting relationships.
Never one to stand still, Sol later transitioned into investment banking, where his career thrived. He worked with firms in Houston, San Francisco, and his beloved Dallas, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. He brought not only sharp insight and integrity to his work, but also a quick wit and sense of humor that made him a joy to be around.
Sol's humor was one of his defining traits—dry, sharp, and perfectly timed. He had a way of making people laugh in any situation, often with a look or just a few well-chosen words. That same warmth and personality carried through every part of his life, making him deeply loved by family and friends. This kindness extended to all living things; Sol had a profound love for animals and found great joy in their companionship throughout his life.
A lifelong advocate for physical fitness, Sol was a standout high school football player and later a city champion in racquetball. His passion for staying active never faded. Even in his later years, he was a regular at the YMCA, participating in high-intensity workouts alongside people decades younger—encouraging them, keeping pace, and often outlasting them. He approached fitness the same way he approached life: with energy, discipline, and a bit of competitive spirit.
Sol also held a deep and enduring passion for Israel, a connection that remained close to his heart throughout his life. It was a source of pride, identity, and reflection, and something he shared meaningfully with those around him.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Florence Rosenblatt and Dorothy Less, and his brothers, Louis, Gilbert, and Milton. Sol is survived by his loving wife, Jill; his children, Larry (Denise), Jeff (Anna), Elizabeth and Randy (Jana); his grandchildren, Lora, Nathan, Madeline, and Benjamin (Amelia), Walker and Emma; and his great-grandsons, Darryl and Oslo.
Above all, Sol will be remembered for his strength, his humor, his deep convictions, and the way he showed up fully—for his family, his work, and his life. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and laughter that will continue to live on through all who knew him.
