Sondra McDonald

Sondra Gayle McDonald, age 83, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Dallas, Texas. Born on May 16, 1942, in Dallas, Sondra's life was a testament to love, family, and cherished traditions.

A graduate of Bryan Adams High School's Class of 1960, Sondra remained deeply connected to her Dallas roots throughout her life. She shared nearly 63 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Bob McDonald, before his passing. We rejoice that they are reunited in heaven, together again.

Sondra was a devoted mother to Lori Moore (husband David Moore) and Kelley Samples (husband Aaron Samples). She found immense joy in her role as grandmother to Linds Moore; Sarah Hoover (husband Josh Hoover); Travis Culpepper (wife Samantha Culpepper); Avery Samples; and Ella Samples. Her love extended to her great-grandchildren: Hendrix Culpepper, Lydia Hoover, Atlas Culpepper, Truett Hoover, Stetson Culpepper, and Jarah Hoover. She is also survived by her sister Kathey Anderson of San Antonio, Texas, as well as several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents Larry Benton Kelley and Jewell Hardwick Kelley; her brothers Coke Kelley and Casey Kelley; and her husband Bob McDonald. Their memories were a source of strength and grace throughout her life.

Sondra's passions brought light to those around her. She had great love for her family and friends. She adored animals and shared a special bond with her cat Riley. An avid reader and talented gardener with a green thumb, she also enjoyed puzzles, solitaire, bridge games, and a good movie. A true hostess at heart, she delighted in hosting and decorating her home for gatherings and holidays. Her impeccable sense of style ensured she was always fashionable and polished -never a hair out of place-with a particular love for handbags and shoes. Her love for cheese enchiladas (no onions!) and chocolate desserts reflect her sweet spirit.

May the memory of Sondra Gayle McDonald bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love will forever live on in the hearts she touched.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
