Sonja Zdenka Pagac

Sonja Z. Pagac passed away on Wednesday, 14 August 2023, in Annapolis, MD. Beloved wife of Benedict B. Pagac Sr., LTC, USA (Ret.); mother of Benedict B. Pagac Jr; and daughter of Ferdinand Bruha and Josephine Rubas. Sonja lived a long and full life, charming everyone she encountered with her motherly warmth, bubbly spirit and genuine concern for others. Sonja was a talented pianist, playing for an appreciative audience even as she was well into her 90s. Sonja was talented at bridge, painting, sculpture, baking, and sewing on her beloved and most prized possession, her Singer sewing machine. Sonja moved to the United States shortly after WWII, and while she never lost her European manners and charm, she embraced her new country with patriotism and an appreciation for its beauty and infinite opportunities. A celebration of life took place on 23 September 2023 in Annapolis, Maryland. She was inurned, joining her husband, at Arlington National Cemetery on 19 November 2024. In her memory consider listening to the music of the Czech composers Antonin Dvorak and Bedrich Smetana.
