It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that on Friday, January 2nd, 2026, we said goodbye to a daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, Stacy Lyn Bezdeka of Minneapolis, MN. In mid-December, Stacy suffered multiple cardiac arrests while being treated for previous heart conditions by a dedicated cardiac team at the University of Minnesota; sadly, she was unable to recover.
Born November 19th, 1973, in St. Paul, Minnesota, she was the loving daughter of Dr. Leland Bezdeka and Sheila Bezdeka (Baumgardt). She grew up on a hobby farm in Stillwater Township, Minnesota, with her sister, Danielle, where she raised and cared for various animals. Her true love was horses, and she cherished her own horse, Mystic Lyn. Growing up on the hobby farm started Stacy on a path to 4-H and exhibiting at the Minnesota State Fair, a long-time tradition started by her maternal grandparents.
She was a member of the Stillwater Area High School Class of 1992, where she lettered for numerous years in cross-country skiing. Stacy later graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the Institute of Technology at the University of Minnesota. She worked as a Research Chemist at 3M and Imation and later at Medtronic in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division.
Stacy was a voracious reader across many genres and was a Sci-Fi and Fantasy fan. She enjoyed games and puzzles that challenged her mind, as well as outdoor activities including walking, cross-country skiing, and swimming. Stacy loved the earth, its animals, and its people; she was truly a kindhearted soul.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Emil and Gertrude Bezdeka (Ladysmith, WI) and Dale and Delores Baumgardt (Buffalo Lake, MN), her uncles, Steven Baumgardt (Goodyear, AZ) and Stanley Zenk (Foley, MN) and her cousin, Nathan Reeck (Paynesville, MN).
Stacy is survived by her parents, Dr. Leland and Sheila Bezdeka (Star Prairie, WI); her sister, Danielle Huizinga (Iain) (Mahtomedi, MN); her two cats, Sirus and Mat; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
