Stanley Lee Johnson, 84, of Rochester, MN, died Wednesday, January 14th, 2026 at The Homestead at Rochester where he and his wife Betty have lived for the past 2 years. Stan was born in Windom, MN on April 8th, 1941, to Leo and Hazel Johnson. He attended all 12 grades of school in Stordon, MN and played all sports. He pitched for the Twins A Team in Western Minnesota. He graduated from Mankato State College in June of 1963 where he met his wife-to-be, Betty Albright. On June 8th, 1963, they were married in Nerstrand, MN at the Methodist Church.
Stan got a teaching job in Spring Valley, MN where he taught physical education, health, social studies, geography, and taught driver's training. He also coached wrestling and baseball. Spring Valley is where their two daughters were born, Tami and Terri.
In spring of 1969, they moved to Rochester, MN where they purchased a new home where they lived for 55 years. They then moved to The Homestead at Rochester Independent Apartments in 2024.
Stan worked for Kraft Foods for many years and worked other jobs in between various illnesses.
Stan and Betty spent many summers at Reel Livin' Campground in their RV trailer outside of Hayward, WI. Stan became an avid muskie fisherman. Fun times with family and friends were had around the campfire. Their grandkids CJ, Mike, Krista, and Joshua spent many summers with Grandpa and Grandma at the lake.
Stan is survived by his wife Betty, 2 daughters; Tami (Joe) Luck and Terri (Dan) Zemke, 4 grandchildren; CJ Luck, Mike (Annalis) Luck, Krista Zemke, and Joshua Zemke.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Hazel Johnson and his brother, Laurel Johnson.
Stan donated his body to further the medical education and research of Mayo Clinic. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 31st at the Chapel at The Homestead at Rochester, 1900A Ballington BLVD NW, Rochester, MN at 2:00 PM. Visitation will start at 1:30 PM before the service. Memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association, Seasons Hospice, or Evangel United Methodist Church.
