Stephen "Steve" Albert Laine, 75, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025. He was born on January 14, 1950, in Perrysburg, Ohio, to Leslie and Alene Laine.
Steve graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1968 and continued his education at Capital University in Bexley, Ohio, where he played baseball. On June 21, 1975, he married Nancy Schneidmiller, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love, devotion, and family.
Steve was the very definition of selfless. He always put others first and loved unconditionally, seeing the best in everyone he met. He was a trusted confidant, a source of comfort and wisdom, and someone whose kindness touched all who knew him, especially his grandchildren.
Above all, Steve was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His family was his greatest joy, and his love will continue to live on through them.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Alene Laine; his in-laws, John and Barbara Schneidmiller; and his sister, Suzanne Albon and brother-in-law Lawrence Albon.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 50 years, Nancy Laine; children James (Amy) Laine, Christopher (Jaclyn) Laine, Maggie (Eric) Fry, and John (Poppy) Laine. He is also survived by his brother James (Louise) Laine; sister Marianne (Alan) Haberbusch. Steve also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren: Owen, Ava, Connor, Ian, Charlotte, Emma, and Nora.
A celebration of Steve's life and burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society in his name.
