Stephen "Steve" Samoranski passed away on March 15, 2026, surrounded by love, leaving behind a life defined by leadership, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to the people and missions he cared about most.
Steve was a devoted husband to his wife of 17 years, Elizabeth, and a proud son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. His relationships were the center of his life, he showed up for people, stood by them, and made sure they knew they mattered.
He served his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Tactical Communications, supporting Operation Desert Fox with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and later serving at Marine Barracks 8th & I in Washington, D.C. That experience shaped the discipline, grit, and sense of purpose he carried throughout his life.
Steve went on to build a successful career in technology, ultimately serving as a Technology Sales Leader at IBM supporting the Department of the Air Force and Space Force. He was respected not just for his expertise, but for how he led - cutting through complexity, focusing on what mattered, and always putting people and mission first. He had a way of bringing clarity to hard problems and energy into every room he walked into.
Outside of his professional career, Steve dedicated himself to cultivating a rich and meaningful life. He meticulously organized travel, often with Disney as a focus, cherishing chances that encouraged people to connect with one another. As a certified scuba diving instructor, he demonstrated leadership and enthusiasm for aquatic activities. Additionally, Steve committed considerable effort to ensure his family's well-being through careful organization and planning, consistently reflecting his deep sense of responsibility and care.
Steve faced his health challenges with honesty, courage, and a clear-eyed understanding of reality. He didn't pretend things were easy - but he kept showing up, kept fighting, and kept focusing on the people he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Liz; his father, Steve (Billie); his sisters, Laura (Kyle) Conte and Toni (Joe) Hoopingarner; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, colleagues, and teammates who will cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Blankenhorn, and his stepfather, Lou Blankenhorn.
Steve's memorial service will be held on March 28, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church in Milford, MI. He will be interred on May 4, 2026, at 12:30PM at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Should you wish to make a donation in memory of Steve, the family suggests considering contributions to a brain cancer research charity, Angela Hospice, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Steve will be remembered for his strength of character, his leadership, his sense of humor, and the way he made people feel - valued, supported, and part of a team.
