Stepheny was born on November 26, 1972, in Topeka, KS to Stephen Minter and Karen Koelling. A lifelong Topeka resident she graduated from Topeka High School in 1991. She attended Emporia State University and earned her bachelor's degree in 1995. After graduation she was hired by the Kansas Department of Corrections and worked there until 2001. Stepheny was a very outgoing and social person. Whether it was going to family gatherings around the holidays, attending her kids activities, or going out with her friends for ladies night, Stepheny loved being around people. She enjoyed classic rock and old country attending many concerts and festivals with her favorite bands being Aerosmith and Alabama. She was an avid reader who read 2 to 3 books a month with her favorite book being To Kill a Mockingbird. She loved to travel and made sure that the family would go on at least one vacation a year, sometimes more. She was a caring person who would go out of her way to help a friend or stranger. In fact her last gift to this world was donating her organs to help others have a chance at a better life. She will be sorely missed by her friends and family who loved her deeply.
