Steve William High

Steven William High passed away on December 17, 2025, at the age of 82.

Steve was born on August 31, 1943, in Orlando, Florida, to Harlem John High and Florence Shubert High. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Lynn High; his son Robert High (Stacie); his daughter Sally High; his granddaughter Grace; his step-granddaughters Ellie and Bailey; his grandson Karter; and his sister Carol Eagle. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Hope High.

Steve proudly served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. He was stationed in Korea, where he met his wife, Lynn, and was later assigned to the 18th Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

In 1967, Steve joined H. J. High Construction full time and assumed the role of President following his father's passing in 1968. He was known for his calm leadership, deep knowledge of construction, and for being a man of his word. Under his leadership, the company helped shape Central Florida, contributing to many significant buildings and projects across the state, including work for First Baptist Church of Orlando, Florida Hospital, Calvary Assembly, Brevard County Schools, Indian River State College, and countless others.

Steve lived with humility, steadiness, and a quiet generosity that shaped everyone around him. He was also a lifelong aviator, flying for more than 50 years and accumulating over 10,000 flight hours. He was especially proud of his service with Angel Flight, completing more than 220 missions to help patients reach medical care.

Steve will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and warmth, and for the steady love he gave to his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Discovery Church, 881 Sand Lake Road, Orlando, FL 32809.
