Steve Monroe

Steve Monroe, age 66, of Doland, South Dakota, passed away unexpectedly on May 30, 2025.

Steve was a dedicated concrete contractor and business owner. After relocating to South Dakota, he founded Paladin Concrete, continuing a lifelong career marked by hard work, craftsmanship, and integrity. Earlier in his career, he owned and operated Monroe's Concrete in California for more than 25 years, where he built a strong reputation for reliability and quality workmanship.

Steve graduated from Lincoln High School in 1976 and spent many years in Lincoln, California, where he raised his children and established both his business and lasting friendships.

In addition to his professional life, Steve enjoyed Southern cooking and took pleasure in preparing meals for family and friends. He also enjoyed reading and spending quiet time watching his favorite television programs.

Steve is survived by his wife of 19 years, Christine Monroe; his children, Amy, Cody, and Lacy; his stepchildren, Jennifer and Apryle; seven grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Dixie.

Steve's passing leaves a deep sense of loss among those who knew and loved him. Though he was not with family in his final moments, he was not alone—his employee and friend, Richard, was with him at the time of his passing. He will be remembered for his kindness, dependability, and the respect he showed to others.
