Steve Payne (age 77) passed away peacefully on 04/16/2026. Missed by:
Wife: Joy. Nephews: David Johnson and Marcus Coleman. Niece: Monica Woingust. Cousin: Leslie Johnson. Brother in law: J.C. Nebergall. Friend: Kim Klawiter. Cousin-in-laws: Sue and Denny Henriksen. Great nephew: Jeffery Treachouse, Great neices: Stephanie Coleman & Ari Heard (and Piere). Great great neice: Reign Coleman.

Steve's early years were in the old Rondo neighborhood. He was an acolyte at St. Phillips Episcopal Church. In Jr. H.S. his family moved to Maplewood. A grad of No. St. Paul High School where he was a 4 sport athlete, class officer, and member of a vocal quartet.

Steve served in the US Army as rank of Sargent. Awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He graduated from Bethel University where he was an outstanding football player. Transitioning to assistant football coach there for many years. He also coached Lakewood College team. Steve was a "Young Life" leader for many years.

Steve managed several Transportation Co. Along with his wife, he owned several small business= Payne's Wedding flowers, Rand Deli & Catering, and Budget Blinds. Steve referred football, basketball, and softball for St. Paul park & Rec. He was a dealer at Mystic Lake & a dealer for "Las Vegas tonight" (a casino party company.) He (along with wife) rehabed a mansion on Suimmit Ave, St. Paul, MN.

He played tennis, racquet ball, broomball, and softball. Steve owned several award winning classic cars. He was a member of MSRA, Northern Lights Car Club, and MN Impala Club. He attended area car shows and made many friends there. He continued deep friendships with his No. St. Paul High School "Class of'66." He belonged to several "500" Card Clubs. He played regularly at Roselawn Legion, No. St. Paul VFW, and Shoreview community Center. He had many friends from all "walks of life."

CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVIE: Sat. May 2, 2026 @11:00 with luncheon in hall to follow. (Visitation at 10:00) LOCATION: North Heights Church, 2701 Rice St., Roseville, MN 55113
