1973 - 2026

Steven Michael Barry, 52, of Westbrook, CT peacefully passed away on Tuesday March 3rd, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones, following a brief illness.
Steve was born on July 14th, 1973 in Putnam, CT, to Michael and Kathleen Barry. Steve lived most of his childhood years in Germany and Pioneer City, Maryland before returning to CT where he spent the rest of his life. He attended East Lyme High School where he spent many days on the basketball court with dear friend Mat Richard and falling in love with his first wife Cathie (Case) Fontaine. They married in 1994 and had two children together, Tyler and Megan. In 2002 Steve met Quinn Kelly, the love of his life, and married in 2006. In the nearly 20 years they shared together, they had three children Luke, Weston and Ivy.
His five children were his world. He was sure to tell everyone he met how amazing they were. Always boasting of their achievements and how proud he was of them. Steve loved coaching and watching his kids play sports and was a dedicated Mets and Redskins fan. He enjoyed racing at the Waterford Speedbowl, going to the beach and riding his Harley motorcycle. He loved being on and near the water, boating, fishing and camping with his family. Steve was known for his quick wit & sense of humor. He always had a way of sharing stories that would get everyone laughing and made people feel seen.
Over the last 3 decades Steve was a loyal and devoted crew member at Beard Lumber, where he met his best friend, Brian Hall, Sound Petroleum as a journeyman in HVAC, and New London Seafood Distributors as Dock Manager. In his life as well as his final days, Steve made sure to be strong and brave to ensure his kids would know how to do the same when they needed to.
Steve was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Kathleen (Ward) Barry; his dear sister, Lisa Barry, who he helped care for prior to her passing; and his uncle, Michael Ward. He leaves behind his five amazing children, his father Michael R Barry of Clermont, FL. many adoring aunts, uncles & cousins, and countless close friends. Steve is watching over them everyday and he will be remembered as the funny, caring and loving man, dad, friend and son he was.
