It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steven "Steve" Ray Fitch, age 75, of Odessa, who left this world on Friday, February 6, 2026. Born on November 8, 1950, in Fairfield, Illinois, to William "Bill" Fitch and Beverly Ann Fitch, Steve touched many lives during his time with us.
In 1984, Steve met the love of his life, Karen (Lunceford) Imler. They were married the following year and spent 41 years together, creating a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Steve was a dedicated and hardworking individual who embraced many roles throughout his life. After years as a truck driver, he discovered his true calling in education and retired from Ector County ISD after 26 years of devoted service. He was known for his steady presence and dependable nature, quietly showing his care for those around him. His faith and community were vital to him, as he was a longtime member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
Steve leaves behind his beloved wife, Karen Fitch, of Odessa; his daughter, Stephanie Gribble, of Indianapolis, Indiana; his sisters, Debbie Childs and her husband Andy of Fort Worth, and Sherry Raney and her husband Rick of Odessa; stepchildren, Casey Powell and his wife Amy of Big Spring, and Kristi Hall and her partner Delmon Cude of Odessa; grandchildren: Shaun Powell, Jordan Powell, Bobby Deason and his partner Carrie Durand, Trent Powell, and Savannah Hall of Texas, and Ryan Gribble and Stephon Nobles of Indiana; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will carry his memory in their hearts.
He is now at rest, reunited with his parents, William "Bill" Fitch and Beverly Fitch; his stepmother, Alice Fitch; his sister, Barbara "Sissy" Fitch; and his children, Billy Fitch, Raymond Fitch, and Susie Fitch.
A memorial service to honor Steve's life will be held at Chapel Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM. This time will allow his family and friends to gather from near and far to celebrate his life.
