Mr. Steven Robert Hautajarvi, 47, passed away on January 17, 2026, in Granite Falls, Washington, after a courageous six-month battle with Glioblastoma. Born on July 22, 1978, in Tacoma, Washington, Steven lived a life marked by resilience, humor, and an unwavering dedication to those around him.
A proud graduate of Foss High School and the Bates Technical Culinary Class, Steven pursued a diverse and dynamic career path. He worked as a cook, dispensary agent, sales representative, and inventor—roles that reflected his creativity and adaptability. Whether behind a stove or engaging with customers and colleagues, Steven brought energy and heart to everything he did.
Steven was known for his boundless generosity and infectious spirit. He had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and smile, often going out of his way to lift others up. His warmth and charisma left lasting impressions wherever he went; he made friends easily and touched countless hearts along the way.
An avid fisherman and talented chef, Steven found joy in both the serenity of nature and the art of cooking. These passions were more than hobbies—they were expressions of his love for life's simple pleasures. His work ethic was unmatched; he would walk miles just to fulfill his commitments. Yet when it came time to relax, Steven embraced fun with equal intensity—he worked hard and played even harder.
Steven's deepest affections were reserved for his beloved pets, Marshall and Tom. He also had a fondness for Pepsi and Budweiser—small comforts that brought him joy throughout his life.
He is survived by his stepfather, Bill Phillips; his brother David Hautajarvi and sister-in-law Cathy Hautajarvi; his sister Angie Hautajarvi; as well as his niece, nephews, cousins; and his best friend Tim Cronk. Each of them carries cherished memories of Steven's laughter, loyalty, and love.
On the other side to greet him with open arms are his mother Nancy Hautajarvi; grandparents Bob and Shirley Marshall; along with a variety of beloved pets who shared in the joy of his life.
Steven's legacy is one of kindness, perseverance, humor, and heart. May the memories he created bring comfort to all who knew him—and may we carry forward the light he so freely gave.
We all cherish the memories we have of you.
