Steve Krieger passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026. He was a man of deep curiosity, quiet wit, and enduring passions that shaped a rich and well-lived life.
Steve was born in Cincinnati and, with the exception of early childhood years in New Mexico and Tennessee, spent the remainder of his life in Cincinnati. After graduating from Ohio State University, he started his career as a high school teacher. He subsequently went back to school for an MBA and moved into the world of business.
Though retired from his professional career, Steve remained intellectually and creatively engaged. He was a nationally ranked Scrabble player who competed in tournaments throughout the United States and Canada, relishing both the strategy of the game and the community it brought with it. A lifelong reader, Steve was rarely without a book close at hand, often accompanied by a thoughtfully chosen single-malt scotch.
Steve's love of the arts found a home in community theater, where he had been involved since discovering the joy of acting in high school. Whether on stage or behind the scenes, theater remained a constant source of joy and connection throughout his life.
Travel was one of Steve's greatest pleasures. He explored widely across the United States and Europe, sharing those experiences with his partner, Lana, who happily planned their many adventures together.
Steve was a devoted father and his children brought him great pride and joy throughout his life. He is survived by his daughter, Emily, his son, Max, his sister, Nancy Krieger (David Bushinsky), his partner, Lana Piazza, as well as his nephews and cousins.
