It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Bruce Miller, who departed this world on November 17, 2025, at the age of 77 surrounded with love, sunlight, family, pets and music. Steve was a beloved son, a devoted father, loyal husband, a proud grandfather, and a cherished friend to many.
Born on January 27, 1948, in Binghamton, NY to Clyde and Marion Miller, who instilled the values of hard work, toughness, and integrity in him. He grew up with a strong sense of family and loyalty that would carry throughout his life. He graduated from Susquehanna Valley High School, where his early years were marked by friendships, shenanigans and a passion for all things mechanical.
After high school, Steve dedicated his career to the construction industry, where he became a well-known and respected Superintendent at G. DeVincentis & Son Construction. His expertise and leadership were evident in every project he undertook, earning him respect in the field and from his peers. He took great pride in his work, often reflecting on how it contributed to the communities he served.
Steve was a man of many interests; he loved to travel the world exploring new places, always seeking adventure and new experiences. His zest for life was often found in the simple pleasures, whether it was tinkering in his garage, where he could often be found working on projects or fixing things up. This passion for hands-on work mirrored the way he approached life: with creativity, tenacity, a touch of cursing and a lot of laughter. The impact Steve had on those around him cannot be overstated. He was a man who believed in the importance of family and friendship, being a good neighbor and he took great joy in nurturing these relationships. His laughter and never-ending drive will be missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents and brother, Lanny J. Miller, who he cherished deeply. He is survived by his loving wife and partner for over 25 years, Vicki Miller, and their family. His six children: Jennifer Wlostowski (Dave), Dusty Miller (Scot), Jessica Miller, Steven J. Miller (Erin), Jonathan Greenfield (Brittany), and Caity McManus (Chris). He was the proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart and brought tremendous joy to his days. His dear sister, Pat Forst, also survives him, providing a lasting bond of family that Steve valued immensely.
A Celebration of Steve's Life will be held at The Relief Pitcher in the Banquet Room on December 27th, 2025, 12 to 4 PM. All are welcome to join in remembering a remarkable man whose spirit touched so many lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Broome County Humane Society in Steve's memory, continuing his legacy of kindness and generosity.
Steven Bruce Miller may have left this world, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him in return. Rest in peace, dear Steve. You will be missed more than words can express. If you ever want to live a day in his shoes, then talk to a stranger.
