Steven DeWane Orr, known to many as Steve, of Exeter, Pennsylvania, was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose life was defined by love, humor, creativity, and generosity. Born on September 9, 1944, in Corning, New York, he was the son of the late Wellington "Jack" Orr and Carmen Reynolds.
Those who knew him best are so incredibly blessed. Steve was fun, funny, creative, caring, kind, and compassionate. He woke up and showed up every day, no matter the circumstances, bringing curiosity, determination, and a generous heart to everything he did. A simple man by nature, he never asked for much for
himself but always wanted the very best for everyone around him. He loved joking around, often playfully teasing.
Steve was deeply loved by his neighbors and left a lasting impression on anyone he came into contact with. He took a sincere and genuine interest in others, making people feel seen, heard, and valued—whether they were family, friends, or someone he had just met.
Steve built a meaningful and long-lasting career at Procter & Gamble (P&G), where he was not only recognized for his dedication and hard work but also treasured for the friendships he formed—especially with his many friends, whom all referred to each other as "Joe."
He cherished time with family, telling stories, working on projects, and celebrating the successes and milestones of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His grandson, Shane Steven VanOrder, was his right-hand man during his younger years, and his granddaughter, Jordan Frye, was always the apple of his eye—each sharing strong and cherished connections with him that reflected meaningful and unique parts of his life.
Steve also had a love for tinkering, fixing things, and helping others with whatever he could lend a hand to, always leaving a little bit of himself in everything he did.
He is survived by his son Troy Orr (Cher); daughters Treyci Callahan (Sean) and Candy Frye (Jay); grandchildren Corey VanOrder (Tori), Benjamin Orr, Nathan Orr, and Jordan Frye (Justin); great-grandchildren Noah Milewski-VanOrder, Shane "SJ" VanOrder, Connor Battista, Marley Willis, and Jack Willis; siblings Sylvia
Thompson, Daryl Orr, and Sandra Fritz; brother-in-law Bill Vanzile; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Steven was predeceased by his brothers LaMonte ("Butch") Orr and Eugene ("Bucky") Orr, his sister Sherry Vanzile, and his nephew Ford ("Fordie") Surine.
His legacy lives on in the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the countless lives he touched.
