Sue Ann Mershman, 58, of Sterling Heights, MI, passed away on December 6th, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Sue was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Sue was born on February 10th, 1967 in Royal Oak, MI, to Donald and Patricia Champine, the last of 10 children.
She married Rod Mershman on October 17th, 1986, and together in their 39 years of marriage they raised 3 amazing children who went on to give them 8 precious grandchildren. Family meant everything to Sue. She loved taking care of her family and one of her favorite things was Sunday family dinners where all her children and grandchildren would come to their house every Sunday for dinner and family time. Anyone who was blessed to interact with Sue would describe her as kind, generous, thoughtful, and caring. She treated everyone with respect and love in her heart - something we should all strive for.
Sue worked as an Operations Secretary at Birmingham Public Schools for 30 years, where she was known for her kind and warm interactions along with her dedication to making sure everything ran smoothly in all of the schools.
Outside of work, Sue and Rod poured their heart and soul into building their cottage on Lake George in Harrison, MI. The family made countless memories in their second home over the past 28 years. Water sports, boat rides, swimming, sledding, trail rides, parties, and bon fires are just a few of the activities they enjoyed together. Over the years they made tons of friends on the lake who became like family to her.
Sue is survived by her husband Rod, her 3 children Rodney (Lauren), Donald James (Madeline), Taylor (Keith), her 8 beautiful grandchildren RJ (7), KJ (6), Raegan (5), Eli (4), Mikey (3), Emma (2), Scottie (1), Addie (1), and her siblings, Jeanette, Carol, Donna, Barb, Danny, Dave, Ron, and Dennis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Patricia, and sister Deniese.
A memorial service will be held on January 9th, 2025 at St. Therese Lisieux Catholic Church in Shelby Township, with visitation starting at 9:30 am and mass beginning at 10:00 am. A celebration of life gathering will follow at Hamlin Pub at 25 mile and Van Dyke in Shelby Township beginning at noon.
