Sue Dean Rasmussen, 83, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 26th, 2026 after a long and courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease and aphasia.

Sue was born on November 15th, 1942, in Cyril, Oklahoma and graduated from Cyril High School. She was known for her strength, determination, kindness, and easy smile.

She remained proud of her Cyril High School roots and often spoke warmly of her classmates and the memories they shared.

As a young woman, Sue began her working life in Oklahoma City. She often spoke fondly of those years at a bank, when she first set out on her own — forming lasting friendships and embracing the independence that would define her life.

She eventually settled in Lawton, Oklahoma, beginning her long career at Fort Sill. Lawton remained her home for most of her life.

Sue served as a Budget Analyst at the Army Field Artillery Board at Fort Sill. She often shared how meaningful it was to support military service members through her work. During her 25+ years there, she formed many enduring friendships. She also found a special community while working at the Fort Sill Red Cross office, again supporting service members and their families.

She was a devoted mother to her daughter and spent many late nights sewing Halloween costumes and uniforms for extracurricular activities. Despite the demands of her full-time career, she faithfully attended and chaperoned many of these events.

She carried many responsibilities at once — caring for her aging parents, raising her daughter, and maintaining her full-time career — and did so with determination and steadfast devotion.

She loved travel, gardening, and dancing, and she cherished her cat, Mr. Kitty. Her circle of friends was diverse, and she appreciated people for their character above all else.

She enjoyed laughter, live music, March Madness, and college softball. She had an eye for beautiful objects and especially enjoyed collecting antiques, art, and pottery. Though she treasured quiet moments and time alone, she equally cherished time spent visiting with those she loved.

She cared deeply for those in her life and remained a loyal and steadfast presence to family and friends. Her love for her family remained constant throughout her years.

May her memory bring comfort and joy to those who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Edie Rasmussen of St. Louis, Missouri, and her brother, Charles Webb of Marble Falls, Texas. She also leaves behind extended family members and dear friends whom she loved deeply.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
