Susan Baird

Susan Jane Sheilley Baird, 71, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and Indiana Jones on TV, March 13, 2026. Born on April 23, 1954, in Louisville, she lived a life filled with adventure and lots of love.

Susan graduated from Atherton High School in 1972 and graduated Norton Infirmary Radiology Technician School. She began her career as a radiology technician and later transitioned to the Public Relations Department at St. Anthony's Hospital. After years of hard work and commitment to her profession, Susan retired from EBSO Incorporated.

Family was at the heart of Susan's life. She is survived by her son, William David "Billy" Baird III (Christy), and stepdaughter Angela Reardon. Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren Rebecca Jane (Cecel), Virginia Claire (Gaege), Mary Lucy (Jaden), Chris, and Katarina, as well as her great-grandchild Landon. Susan also leaves behind her brother Joseph Sheilley Jr., sister-in-law Carol Persanyi, brothers-in-law John Baird (Lynn), Jeff Sellers (Tammy), and Chilton Sellers (Carol). She will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, friends, and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William David "Bill" Baird Jr.; her parents Joseph Sr. and Laura Jane Sheilley; and her sisters Lucy Thompson (Tom) and Lynn Sheilley.

Susan found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved spending "Memaw Time" with her granddaughters, shopping, ladies' nights with her gal pals, floating in a pool with a margarita and a good book in hand, and socializing with friends at the legion post. Susan also had a great sense of humor. Her warmth and zest for life left an indelible mark on all who knew her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Susan's wonderful caregivers from Eldercare for Families: Tia, Aundrea, Bethany, Erika, Taledra, Barbara, LaToya, and Mariama.
