Susan Linda Feicht "Susie" passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina at 75 years old, leaving behind a legacy of creativity, music, laughter, and deep devotion to the people she loved. She was the daughter of Rose Bowden and Robert Fillingham born in Mason, Michigan on February 12, 1950. Born with an artist's heart and a dreamer's imagination, she filled her world—and the worlds of those around her—with color, melody, and joy.
Susie grew up in the hamlet of Wallkill, New York with her sisters, Janet "Bunny", Stephanie "Stevie" and Rosemary "Roe". She graduated from Wallkill Senior High School. She welcomed two children with her former husband Greg Feicht, Jacqueline "Jaqi" and James "Jamie". Susie worked for IBM for many years, both in Fishkill, New York and Burlington, Vermont. She went back to school later in life to earn a degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant and moved to North Carolina to work in the field. Mom truly loved her work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Helping people regain confidence and independence brought her real joy, and she poured her heart into every person she supported.
Susie shared an unbreakable bond with her three sisters—Bunny, Stevie, and Roe—who were not only her siblings but her closest friends. Together they created a lifetime of memories, especially during their cherished summer trips. Every year, the sisters and their families packed up the Volkswagen camper van and the Subaru's and headed to Virginia Beach State Park, where weeks of sun, sand, laughter, and togetherness became treasured traditions.
A lifelong New York Yankees fan, Susie could often be found cheering on her team with the same enthusiasm she brought to everything she loved. Music was the soundtrack of her life, and her favorites— Barbra Streisand, Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond, Bee Gees, John Denver, Genesis, Carly Simon, Queen, and so many more—were always playing softly in the background as she read, drew, or simply enjoyed a quiet moment. Books were her constant companions, and she was rarely seen without one in hand.
Art was woven into Susie's life from the very beginning. Her bedroom wall became her first canvas, a place where she let her imagination roam free. In her later years, she continued to share her gift by drawing pictures for her friends at the facility where she lived. Her artwork brought comfort, smiles, and beauty to those around her, just as she always had.
Susie also enjoyed word search puzzles, a simple pleasure that kept her mind sharp and her curiosity alive. She also enjoyed playing Progressive Rummy, a card game the family enjoyed together. Whether she was solving a puzzle, sketching a new idea, or losing herself in a favorite song, she approached life with a gentle spirit and a warm heart.
She was beautiful, not only in appearance but in spirit. Her kindness radiated in everything she did, and her love was a constant presence in our lives. Growing up, she tried to be at every soccer match and track meet, cheering us on from the sidelines. Those moments weren't just about sports—they were about her showing us, time and again, that we mattered, that she was there, and that her love was unwavering. Her compassion extended beyond her children. She cared deeply for her own mother, tending to her during illness with patience and devotion.
At home, she found joy in the simple things. Her basset hound, EC, was her loyal companion, a source of laughter and comfort. And her love for family stretched wide—to her two surviving sisters, Bunny and Roe, brother-in-law Wayne, her children Jamie and Jaqi, her daughter-in-law Jen, her granddaughters Charlotte and Madeline, her niece Gia, nephews PJ and Mario, and even her granddogger Sylvie. Each of us carries a piece of her heart, and each of us will miss her deeply.
Mom was a resident at the Pavilion Health Center at Brightmore in the Ballantyne neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina for the last several years, where she was deeply loved by the amazing staff who cared for her with such kindness and patience. During her time there, she formed many meaningful friendships and was especially close with Bobbie and Catherine. She took great joy in the community's activities—never missing a Bingo game and always showing up for the live music events she adored. Susie also served proudly as the Vice President of the Resident Council, a role that reflected her warm spirit and her commitment to staying engaged with those around her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose, and her beloved sister, Stevie. Though we grieve her absence, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with them now, embraced in love and peace.
Susie's Celebration of Life will take place at the Pavilion Health Center at Brightmore, 10011 Providence Road West, Charlotte, NC 28277, on March 30th at 3:00 PM. Please join us as we come together to remember and honor our beloved Susie.
