Susan Haught, age 90, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, in Erie, Colorado. Born on November 1, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, she lived a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to her family and career.
Following high school graduation, Susan devoted over twenty years to the Ohio and Texas School Systems, working up to serving as cafeteria manager. She was well respected by colleagues, staff, and students throughout her career. She will be remembered for professionalism and care.
Susan was married to Carl Fredrick Haught for 68 years until his passing in 2022. Together they raised four children: Debra Haught; Robert Haught; David Haught; and Karen Hampton. Debra, David, and Karen preceded her in death.
She was grandmother to Aaron (Heather) Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, Jeremy Haught, and Jason Haught. Along with three great grandchildren Katie, Emily and Alyssa Taylor.
An avid outdoorswoman, Susan enjoyed hunting and fishing pursuits that reflected her adventurous nature. She also had a well-known fondness for visiting casinos and was affectionately known as "The Lucky One" for her frequent wins.
A lifelong animal lover with a special affection for cats, Susan welcomed many furry companions into her home over the years.
Susan's life was grounded in love—for her husband Carl, their children and grandchildren, animals of all kinds, and the simple pleasures that brought joy to each day. Her unwavering loyalty and strength remain an enduring example to those who knew and loved her.
