Susan Catherine Owens

1941 - 2026

Susan C. Owens (nee Moedl) passed away on March 13, 2026 at the age of 84. Beloved wife of the late William R. Owens. Loving mother of Margaret (John) Rieger and Anita (Dennis) Carroll. Cherished grandmother of Maxwell (Danielle Babb) Rieger and Abby (Chris Goergen) Rieger. She also had a great love for all of the grand-dogs that were a special part of her life, making sure there were always treats aplenty.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Moedl, and she enjoyed a close relationship with her cousin, James Wood, and her aunt, Madge Frank.

Sue was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard and Cheviot. She graduated from Our Lady of Angels High School and worked for the Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library and St. Martins of Tours Elementary School Library. She especially loved reminiscing of her time when she worked on the library bookmobile.

Along with the love of her family, Sue enjoyed camping throughout the United States with Bill, instilling a love of travel in their daughters and grandchildren. Their favorite trips were to the National Parks. Stories of camping adventures were often a large part of conversation whenever the family was together.

A devoted cook and baker, friends and family were often the recipients of her homemade treats like brown bread, buckeyes, and caramels during the holidays. She was an avid reader and never missed an episode of Jeopardy.

Sue was a strong woman who believed in the value of education and the importance of achieving your own goals, qualities seen in her daughters and grandchildren.
