Susan Louise (Brown) Rhoad, 75-years old, of Lebanon, PA passed away on November 27, 2025, after an extended illness.
Susie was born in Cornwall, PA on January 8, 1950, to Louise and Nathan Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Ralph Rhoad, her sister Joyce (Bell) Montgomery, her brother Andrew Boyle, and her brother Donald Brown. Susan is survived by her oldest brother, Thomas Gillie, and several nieces and nephews.
Susie graduated from Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon in 1967 and went on to complete degrees at Albright College and Alvernia University. Marty and Susie married in 1972 and settled into Reading, PA for most of their lives until Susan returned to her hometown of Lebanon in 2021. Susie spent the early years of her career working as an operating room technician and later transitioned to an administrative role at Vanguard for approximately 20-years until she retired.
Susie loved animals, and over the years her dogs Arlo, Buddy, Cookie, Hoover, Jasmine, and Lucy were the joy of her life. She had a vivid imagination and enjoyed hobbies of making ceramics, drawing, photography, and crochet. She maintained her child-like enthusiasm throughout her life and enjoyed and sharing her time with friends and family on travel, over meals, and socializing.
Susie and Marty both wanted to continue to contribute to the betterment of healthcare and made the decision to donate their remains to the furtherment of health science. As such, there will be no visitation or funeral service in the near term. Given that Susie had family and friends all over the country, the family encourages her friends to go enjoy some time together over a meal or drink and celebrate the good times that they had with Susie over the years. In lieu of any flowers or donations, Susie would have encouraged donations to the animal rescue charity of your choice.
