Suzanne Crossley Curran

1946 - 2026

Suzanne Crossley "Suzie" Curran ( Ifill), aged 79, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, in Rhinebeck, New York. Born on August 14, 1946, in Poughkeepsie, New York, Suzie lived a life marked by resilience, creativity, and a deep care for others.

Suzie was the daughter of Maude and Wilmer M. Ifill and grew up alongside her brother David Ifill. She attended Roy C. Ketcham High School, graduating with the class of 1964. Her pursuit of education continued at Dutchess Community College and later SUNY New Paltz College, reflecting her dedication to learning and personal growth.

In her youth, Suzie was an accomplished equestrian, earning recognition as a champion horseback rider. Her love for horses was a defining part of her early years. She also expressed herself through painting and playing the guitar, showcasing her artistic spirit and creative talents.

Suzie faced significant health challenges throughout her life with remarkable strength and determination. Diagnosed with epilepsy in her late teens and living with an ileostomy from the age of twelve until her passing, she never allowed these conditions to define or limit her. Instead, she embraced life fully and devoted herself to helping others.

Her compassionate nature shone through in her volunteer work with organizations such as the Beacon Sloop Club and the American Red Cross. Suzie's selflessness and willingness to put others' needs before her own left a lasting impact on those who knew her.

Suzie was baptized as an Episcopalian and followed the faith during her earlier years before stepping away later in life. Her spiritual journey reflected her thoughtful approach to life’s complexities.

In 1969, Suzie married Stephen D. Curran. Though their marriage ended in separation in 1976, they shared a chapter of life together that contributed to Suzie’s story. She is survived by their son, Christopher T. Curran, who carries forward her legacy of kindness and resilience.

Preceding Suzie in death were her parents Maude and Wilmer Ifill and her brother David Ifill.

Suzie's memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her vibrant personality, caring heart, and unwavering determination serve as an inspiration to those she leaves behind.

May Suzanne Crossley "Suzie" Curran rest in peace, and may her memory bring comfort to all who loved her.
