Suzanne Rebecca Levitas-Phelps, 79, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on January 2, 2026.
She was born Suzanne Rebecca Cauble on September 18, 1946, in Portland, Oregon, and was raised in Dallas, Oregon, where she graduated from Dallas High School in 1964. She studied classical music and voice performance at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, and carried a lifelong love of music and learning.
Suzanne was intellectually curious and deeply engaged with the world. Her interests and pursuits took her across countries and cultures throughout her life. She was deeply reflective, faithful, and spiritual, and practiced Judaism for more than fifty years. In Richmond, she built a close and caring community of friends - many connected through music - who were an essential part of her life.
She is survived by her sisters, Linda Sharp (Mitchell) of Austin, Texas, and Marilyn Barnhart of Eugene, Oregon, and six nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lawrie Lindquist. A private family memorial will be held, and she will be laid to rest in Oregon.
