Eva "Sylvia" Rose Linwood Gibson, affectionately known as "Souie," age 89, passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Nov 24th, 2025 in Collinsville, AL. A devoted woman of faith, Sylvia lived her life as a steadfast believer in God and a guiding light to all who knew her. She was the rock of her family—steady, compassionate, and full of grace. Whenever anyone needed prayer, comfort, or a reminder of God's love, they knew they could turn to her.

Sylvia grew up in New York and married the love of her life, the late Charles Richard Gibson, at the age of 19. From their union came four children: Guy Richard Gibson (Ramona Gibson), the late Craig Gibson, In-Dea Gibson, and Tara Gibson. She later moved her family to Alabama, cherishing the quiet beauty of the country, where she found joy and serenity.

Sylvia's greatest joy was her family, whom she nurtured with unwavering love and devotion. She made friends easily and was a "mother" to many and a dear friend to most. She was always there when anyone needed help or prayers. She gave generously to many organizations whenever she could. She delighted in reading her Bible, watching TBN, and being an active member of Jesus New Covenant Church, where her faith shone brightly. Her life was a living testimony of God's goodness and mercy.

She leaves to cherish her memory her grandchildren: Jaclyn Aramboles (Henry Aramboles), Matthew Carr, De-On Gibson, the late Josiah Gibson, Bryden Gibson, Saviour Gibson, Ryon Gibson, Tegan Gibson, and Eligio Rodriguez, as well as her great-granddaughters Samantha Rodriguez and Rylynn Gibson. Sylvia also leaves behind her beloved sister Elsa Johnson; her cousins Yvonne Dickson, Dolores Nethersole, and Michelle Knight (Sam Knight); and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and friends who were touched by her kindness and strength.

She is preceded in death by her parents Elsa and Minor Linwood; her son Craig Gibson; her brothers Jimmy Linwood, William Linwood, Robert Linwood, and George Linwood; and her sister Julia Linwood.

Sylvia's light will continue to shine through the generations she lovingly raised, and her legacy of faith will forever live in the hearts of all who knew her.
