Tami Lyn (Kelley) DeMott, 59, passed away on February 21, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on May 9, 1966, in Rochester, NH, to Linda (Littlefield) Young and Michael Kelley, Tami spent most of her adult life as a homemaker. She was happiest at home; a proud "homebody," as she often said. Quiet and reflective, she enjoyed word searches ("Words"), personal Bible study, playing Yahtzee & card games, and watching classic television programs, such as Little House on the Prairie, MASH, Bonanza, The Lawrence Welk Show, Gunsmoke, and The Andy Griffith Show.
Tami held a special place in her heart for her Nana, Vila Hill, with whom she spent much of her childhood. Though naturally shy, Tami came alive through music. While growing up in the small towns of Union and Middleton, NH, she dreamed of becoming a country music star, winning a CMA award and singing on the Grand Ole Opry; she admired artists like Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. While she never did sing on that Opry stage, she did walk on it for her 50th birthday in Nashville, where she toured everything country music. As a young woman, she briefly sang with a local band. Her music taste stretched beyond classic country to Motown, Oldies, and more; she loved the Los Lonely Boys and the Bee Gees, and was a devoted fan of Henry Garza, Barry Gibb, and Freddie Mercury.
Above all, Tami was proud of her daughters and granddaughters: her "beautiful brown-eyed girls with curls". She had a remarkable memory for birthdays and family history, often serving as the family's go-to historian when names or dates were forgotten. Affectionately known as "TL", a nickname given by her Aunt Joani Huntress, she valued the time spent with her and Uncle Chuck, and his "words of wisdom".
Tami loved Christmas: the music, decorations, and time spent with family. This past Christmas, spent at Mar and Big Mike's home, was especially meaningful to her.
Tami will be remembered for her quiet strength, honesty, deep love of family, and the music that filled her heart.
She is survived by her partner of 21 years, David Sowards; her daughters, Brienne and Natalie DeMott; her granddaughters, Nyla, Liviana, and Solveigh; her parents, Linda & Michael Young; her brother, Michael Kelley (Sue); her sisters, Rhonda Smith (Jim), Angela Perry (Brian), Bonny Young (Demetrios D.), and Christy Young (Keith M.); and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was predeceased by her brother, Tommy Young and her father, Michael Kelley.
In lieu of flowers, contributions toward cremation, memorial, and burial expenses may be made through the family's GoFundMe (search: Remembering Tami Lyn) or by contacting Bonny or Christy Young.
