Tanya was born on April 4, 1991, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Tracy and Steve Gabrish.
She is preceded in death by her grandfathers David Gleason and Joseph Gabrish, aunt Teri Grunden, and cousin Justin Jurek.
Tanya leaves behind her daughter, Sade, her partner, RJ Barnes, mother and stepfather Tracy and Bill Weaver, father and step-mother Steven & Pamela Gabrish, sisters Danielle Gabrish, Leah Twiddy (Jonah), Neely Freel (Evan), grandmothers Evangeline Gleason and Joan Gabrish, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She graduated from Penn High School and Ball State University with a degree in Public Relations.
Upon graduation, she got a job at the Hard Rock Rocksino in Cleveland, Ohio. She was so excited to start this new adventure and be on her own for the first time. After working there for over a year, she got a promotion and moved to the Hard Rock headquarters in Florida. After his job, she was thrilled to get a new job at Two Faced Cosmetics in Los Angeles, California. She was in her prime working there and loved living the California life. She worked in a few other places in LA and then was so proud to get a job working for Fenty in San Francisco.
When she became pregnant, she moved back to LA to be with the love of her life, RJ. The two had a beautiful baby girl named Sade Simone. Tanya loved her and RJ tremendously.
Tanya was a passionate reader. She became serious with her poetry. She self published two books and went to poetry readings. She had been learning Spanish on Duolingo and had a streak of 6.5 years without missing a day! She took up barre, yoga, and even adult ballet. Needless to say, she loved fashion. Several years ago she flew to Chile by herself so she could spend a few weeks in the town of her favorite poet, Pablo Neruda.
Tanya led an extraordinary life and pursued her passions without pause. Tanya's ashes are to be placed in Pasadena, CA, where RJ and Sade reside.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 30, from 4-5 p.m., at Gospel City Church, 52277 Hickory Rd., Granger, IN 46530.
