Teresa Jesus Gomez

Teresa was born in Mexico on October 15, 1932. In her youth, she studied Mexican Folkloric and Spanish dance. Dance became her passion. She began teaching dance at 16. She studied and got her degree in accounting. She also taught swimming at the YWCA and performed Water Ballet. She married and had two daughters. After her marriage ended, she came to the United States in 1963. Her cousin Eva Sanchez took her in. She lived with her cousin and would cross the border every day to work in Tijuana and cross back to her cousin’s home. She remarried in 1967 and had another daughter. She went back to school, studied nutrition, and became a Registered Dietitian Assistant. During this time, she continued to teach dance, and she formed the Hispanic Mexican Ballet (neé Hispanic Mexican Ballet Folklorico). It performed at Bazaar del Mundo in Old Town for years. Later in life, she formed Taste of Spain, which was performed for Casa de España. She danced well into her 70s. Her advice for life was to be honest and good. She was a model of bravery, strength, and resilience. She was predeceased by her ex-husband, John Gomez, and her daughter Ana Lorena Perez Orozco. She is survived by her daughters, Gloria Margarita Perez Orozco and Janette Teresa Gomez Monteagudo, her grandchildren, Jose Alejandro Perez Perez, Jorge David Perez Perez, Aida Concepcion Perez Perez, and her great-grandchildren, Nathán Perez Torres, Shalom Perez Torres, Jesus Emmanuel Gonzalez Pintor, Santiago Moya Nevarez, Miguel Ernesto Gonzalez Perez, Aida Elizabeth Gonzalez Perez, and Samuel Perez Moya.

Rosary and Funeral Mass will be held on December 19th at 10 am at Our Mother of Confidence Catholic Church. An informal gathering will follow at Round Table Pizza. We are asking those who knew her to please share stories and memories for a Memory Book.
