Terry Allen Atkins, 81, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 17, 1944, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Terry lived a life marked by dedication, craftsmanship, and deep love and devotion for his family.

Terry briefly attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before making the selfless decision to leave school and care for his ailing mother. This early act of devotion set the tone for a life defined by responsibility and compassion. He went on to build a remarkable career as a general contractor and carpenter that spanned six decades. His skilled hands shaped not only homes and furniture but also the lives of those around him.

A long-time resident of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Terry made his home there with his beloved wife of 49 years, Monica Atkins. Together they raised their family and built a life rooted in love and shared joy. Terry was a devoted father to Lori McCall (David) and Lindsay Atkins. His role as “Papa” brought him immense pride and happiness—he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren Dylan, Andrew, and Taylor. Following his retirement in July 2021, the Atkins family relocated to San Antonio, TX, where they made 4 years of amazing memories. Whether playing pool with Dylan or cheering from the front row at Andrew and Taylor’s games, he was always their biggest fan.

Terry’s passions extended beyond work and family. A loyal New England Patriots fan, he rarely missed a Sunday game. He found camaraderie on the golf course with friends and contentment in the pages of books—so much so that he meticulously recorded every title he read over the years. Music was another source of joy; he loved classic rock and playing cards with Monica and friends.

An accomplished woodworker, Terry poured his heart into creating beautiful pieces for friends and family—each one a testament to his talent and generosity. His legacy is etched not only in wood but in the countless lives he touched through quiet acts of kindness and unwavering support.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lillian Atkins, and his brother Pete Atkins. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through Monica, Lori, Lindsay, David, Dylan, Andrew, Taylor, countless friends and family, and all who had the privilege to know him. "T" was dearly loved.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire acts of love and devotion for generations to come. A Celebration of Life will be held on March 12, 2026 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm at Grace Church, 101 Wales Ave in Avon, MA 02322. Reception to follow from 3:00pm - 5:00pm.
