Terry Revere Beale

1937 - 2026

Terry Revere Beale, 88, passed away on March 18, 2026, in Naples, Fl., after a long life shaped by work, family, friendships, and a lifelong connection to the water.
Born November 3, 1937, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to James Edward and Evelyn Beale, Terry grew up along the Tidewater coast — a setting that would shape many of his lifelong passions. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, where he met the love of his life, Rose Mary Williamson. Their partnership began in youth and endured through 57 years of marriage. Rose Mary's warmth and generosity shaped the home they shared until her passing in 2014.
After a year at Richmond Polytechnic Institute (now Virginia Commonwealth University), Terry began his career in sales with Westinghouse Corporation. His natural charm, competitive spirit, and ease with people led him to a long and successful career in Richmond at Goldberg Company, a distributor of Whirlpool appliances, where he rose to become Vice President of the Builder Division. Over the years, he earned numerous awards as a top national Whirlpool salesman, a reflection not only of professional success but of the relationships he built along the way.
Terry and Rose Mary made their home in Richmond, Va., while spending cherished time at their house on the Chesapeake Bay. In Fleeton, they spent many weekends hosting family and friends to enjoy the water and one another's company. They also enjoyed traveling in their motorcoach across the United States, ultimately settling in the Imperial Wilderness RV community in Naples for the winter months.
Sailing was a lifelong joy for Terry. As a young father, he sailed catamarans at his parents' cottage on the Albemarle Sound, teaching his son and daughter how to read the wind and trust the water. In retirement, he returned often to the water and was happiest aboard his Hobie Cat on the Chesapeake Bay. He also enjoyed tennis in earlier years and later embraced pickleball with enthusiasm. In his later years at Imperial Wilderness, Terry remained socially active and competitive, enjoying billiards, shuffleboard, and especially poker nights at the clubhouse.
Terry is survived by his children, Chris Beale (Rhonda) of Kilmarnock, Virginia, and Theresa Beale (Mark Abramson) of Kirkland, Washington; his grandchildren, Jessica (Tyler) Gilman of Glen Allen, Virginia; Kristin (Christopher) Gupta of Maidens, Virginia; Jonathan Abramson of Seattle, Washington; and Erik Abramson of Bellingham, Washington; as well as three great-grandchildren and his devoted dog Marty.
A private celebration of life will be held by the family.
