Terry Murphy, passed peacefully from complications of Parkinson's Disease on Feb. 12 in Denver.

The son of Dr. Barney and Edna Murphy, he was born in Canada and immigrated with his family and four siblings as a child. He spent much of his life in Cheney, Washington, graduating from Cheney High School where he excelled in golf.

Terry earned a degree in Hospitality Management from the University of Nevada Las Vegas, working much of his life managing high end hotels. Some chains include Hyatt and Doubletree taking Terry and his family from Phoenix to Austin, Atlanta, Destin, and Pleasanton. He also supervised the renovation of the Carolina Inn on the North Carolina campus in 1995. His career took him all over the country, but Terry was especially fond of Colorado, specifically the Steamboat Grand Hotel and the Inverness Hotel and Golf Club in Littleton.

Terry is survived by his ex-wife Sherry Nicolaisen, children Casey (Billy) Schaffer of Birmingham, AL, Sean (Antonette) and granddaughter Emma of Tarpon Springs, FL, and Conner (Wenwen) currently living in Malaysia. Terry is also survived by his siblings Susan Gilmore in Seattle, Colleen State in Chehalis, TJ Murphy, Ridgefield, Wash. and Nancy Chapman, Portland, Ore.

A memorial is being planned for the early summer in Cheney, Washington.
