The Reverend Robert W. Switz, 89, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 20th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born in Upper Darby, Philadelphia, PA on September 16, 1936, to Louis Joseph Switz and Margaret Simonsen Switz. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Virginia O'Reilly, and brother Louis Switz.

Throughout his early life, Robert worked multiple jobs: volunteer firefighter, police dispatcher, soda jerk, and apprentice draftsperson at an electronics corporation, each position sharpening his discipline, responsibility, and drive for knowledge, laying the foundation for his future success.

Robert served for 5 years in the Marines. Graduated from Villanova and worked in the insurance industry before following his life's calling at the Virginia Theological Seminary where he earned his Master of Divinity degree.

Robert was ordained and served at Trinity Cathedral in Miami, FL. At the request of the Bishop, he then joined the Army reserves where he served as a Chaplain and Minister, retiring after 17 years. He then became the Rector of Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church in Hollywood, FL where he led a prison ministry. He then served as Rector at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church in Boca Raton, FL. Upon moving to San Francisco, CA he became Supply Clergy at Trinity Episcopal Church. His calling then led him to Charleston SC where he was the Pastor of Church of the Epiphany in Summerville SC where his compassion and leadership touched many lives. Lastly, Robert was called to Vero Beach, FL where he served at Trinity Episcopal Church, providing comfort, care, and communion to home bound members of the congregation for six years.

Robert and his wife, Cheryl Winter, married in 1980. They shared a love of world travel and gourmet food. They especially enjoyed the natural beauty of Africa, discovered on safari. Their travel and the historical places where they lived fueled Robert's natural tour guide instincts as he loved sharing his vast knowledge with anyone willing to listen.

Robert lived as a faithful servant of the Lord, forming lifelong friendships and earning the love of every congregation he shepherded. He was a loving father to his children and a loving husband to his wife. Robert had a unique sense of humor which he passed on to his children. He was a stylish dresser and could often be seen sporting a fedora or a Panama hat. His life was devoted to faith, family, and
country.

Robert is survived by his wife Cheryl Winter, his children; Robert (Julie) Switz, Deborah Switz, Sarah (Robert) Coon; grandchildren, Jessica (Keith) Sanders, Steven Switz, Alex (Hilary) Switz, Rachel (Michael) O'Neil, Chad (Jillian) Coon, Rebecca Coon, Sasha Switz and Tyler Switz; and great grandchildren Katelynn, Liam, Bailey, Everleigh, Benjamin, Parker, Duke, Waylon, and Archie.
