Theresa A. Camire of Concord passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter and family at Granite VNA Hospice House on Monday, March 9th. She was born on November 10, 1954, in Manchester, NH, to Roland Camire and Jeannine (Menard) Camire.
She lived in Derry during her younger years, where she managed both the Derry and Hampshire houses. She spent most of her life in Concord, where she worked for Northeast Delta Dental until her retirement. Later, she lived in Ruskin, Florida, for several years before returning to Concord to be close to her dad, who always had her heart.
Anyone who really knew her recognized that she went through phases of collecting things she enjoyed, such as lighthouses, teddy bears, and anything related to cats or dogs. The only constant was her love for her family, animals, and gardening. She had an incredible green thumb. No matter where she lived, she always made her surroundings more beautiful with plants and flowers. She loved riding motorcycles, snowmobiling, and swimming at Lake Massasecum, where she camped with her family as a child. If there was a yard sale, you were going with her—whether you wanted to or not—as this was one of her favorite weekend activities with her dad.
She grew up in a large family with many siblings. As the oldest female, she often felt responsible for caring for the younger children. While she would say they didn't have many material things growing up, she always spoke about the love she felt from her parents and siblings.
If you were lucky enough to be considered her friend or loved one, she would go out of her way to make you a meal, help you in any way she could, or get you whatever you desired. You would be in trouble if you mentioned you like something. You could count on her scouring this earth to get it for you because she wanted you to feel loved.
In her later years, she suffered greatly from declining health and vascular dementia, which required more care and safety than her family could provide. In 2024, she moved to Merrimack County Nursing Home. Anyone who has cared for someone with dementia knows the struggles. To all of the staff (past and present), we are grateful for the love and respect shown to her and her family. Many times, we met staff members who said they worked with her and loved her—and that smile!
She was predeceased by her parents, Jeannine and Roland Camire of Concord, NH, and her brother, Robert Camire of Effingham, NH.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Leighton of Bradford, NH. Her siblings are Richard Camire of Methuen, MA; Paul Camire of Ruskin, FL; David Camire of Bradford, NH; Michael Bailey of Calhoun, TN; Cathy Bickmore of Dade City, FL; Lucien Camire of Farmington, NH; and Christopher Camire of Farmington, NH. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
There will be no services at this time; a private family gathering will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to any animal shelter of your choice.
