Thomas Ray Back, 79, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in Venice, FL. Born on March 30, 1946 in Middletown, Ohio, Tom was a devoted Christian, family man, and a respected veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served honorably during the Vietnam War, stationed at U-Tapao, Thailand.
Tom graduated from Madison High School and went on to serve his country.
Tom was a dedicated Foreman at Ohio Bell in the Telecommunication field where he oversaw many switchovers in telephone operations as technology advanced throughout his 20 year career.
Tom was a cherished husband, father, son, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Tom is survived by his wife, Rosemary Back; son, Jim Back (Tracy); sister, Imogene Back-Holcomb (Arvey); nieces, Shelley Hanley (Dave), Rhonda Cox, and Holly Martin; nephews, Wayne Cox (Susan) and Kelly Back; grandchildren, Trevor Back (Amanda), Alex Back, and Alexia Back; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Amelia Back.
He was predeceased by his mother, Zollie Back- Johnston; father, Rader Back, Brother; Dobie "Jerry" Back (Betty), and Brother-In-Law- Michael Day.
Tom attended Towne Boulevard Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Donate Life Florida, in memory of Thomas Back, honoring his legacy and support for organ donation due to his granddaughter's, (Alexia Back) gifts of life.
