In loving memory of Thomas Alan "Tom" Congdon, age 64, who passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, in Hartford, Connecticut. Born on October 28, 1961, in Putnam, Connecticut, Tom lived a life defined by love, generosity, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
Tom was the beloved husband of Laurie Congdon and a devoted father to Meagan Verdusco and her husband Hilario Verdusco, Amanda Diaz and her husband Daniel Diaz, Shawn Jolie and his wife Kayla Jolie, and Trista Albert and her husband Trevor Albert. He was a proud grandfather to Alyson Crockett, Miles and Owen Jolie, and Taylor and Teagan Albert. His deep love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life; he found his greatest joy when surrounded by those he cherished most.
He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters Carol Dragon, Alice Dumas, Marcia Richardson, and Lorna Gounaris. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Marjorie Congdon, as well as his sister Jean Rainey. The thought of him reunited with them brings comfort to those mourning his loss.
A man of many passions and talents, Tom found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved tinkering in his garage—always fixing or building something with care—and took great pride in gardening. Cooking was another of Tom's joys; he especially delighted in smoking meats for gatherings that brought people together around the table. Deep sea fishing offered him peace and reflection, while Friday nights spent with friends were treasured traditions that filled his heart with laughter.
Tom proudly served in the United States Army—a chapter of his life that instilled discipline and deepened his sense of service to others. That same spirit carried through every day thereafter. He was known for being selfless to a fault—offering help without hesitation and giving freely from the heart. Whether it was lending a hand or sharing a meal he had lovingly prepared, Tom made everyone feel welcome and cared for.
Those who knew Tom will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend—and above all—a man whose compassion felt rare and genuine. His absence leaves an immeasurable void but also a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
May the memory of Thomas Alan Congdon bring comfort to those who mourn him today and strength in the days ahead. His presence will forever be felt in the lives he touched so deeply.
