Thomas “Tom” L. Green Jr. of Forney, Texas, passed away on the 31st of December, 2025, at the age of 61, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family, and entrepreneurial vision.
Tom was born on November 25th, 1964, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Thomas L. Green Sr. and Joan Lee Owens. He grew up in Iowa Park, where he formed the foundation of a life marked by curiosity, faith, and determination. He cherished memories of playing baseball and fishing with his father, moments that shaped his love of the outdoors and family. Tom was a proud Cub Scout, learning values of responsibility, service, and perseverance that guided him throughout his life.
From an early age, Tom displayed an inventive and entrepreneurial spirit. Whether raising raccoons and turkeys in his youth or dreaming up his next venture, he was always planning, building, and imagining what could come next. His lifelong goal was to make a meaningful mark on the world.
In 1983, during his senior year of high school, Tom met Eugenia, and the two married in June 1984. That same year, they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where Tom attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics. He earned his Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certification, launching a career in aviation that would take his family across the country. Tom’s career led him to Abilene, Texas, where he worked for American Eagle Airlines and welcomed the birth of his daughter Whitney in 1987; Denver, Colorado, where he worked for Continental Airlines; and finally Houston, Texas, beginning in 1989, where he transitioned into technical writing, documenting aircraft maintenance schedules and procedures. One of his greatest professional ambitions was to standardize technical writing and service maintenance across the airline industry, believing it would improve safety, efficiency, and communication worldwide. It was here in Houston that he and Eugenia welcomed the birth of their daughter Celeste in 1991. While in Houston, Tom took his first step into business ownership with a family resale shop in Humble. In 1994, he discovered a passion for homebuilding, and in 1995, he and Eugenia built their first family home together, where they welcomed the birth of their son Hayes in 1996. This passion for homebuilding grew into Thomas Green Luxury Homes, a successful custom homebuilding business serving the North Houston area. Although Tom and Eugenia divorced in 1998, his love for his children and his desire to make memories with them remained unwavering. Whether it was memorable family boating days on the lake or vacations to the beaches of Mexico, he cherished every opportunity to share his love for the water with his children.
Later, Tom moved to Dallas, where he married Brenda Castillo in 2016 and became a stepfather to Austin, embracing blended family life. He was well known to come home and enjoy watching the nightly news and sports from his favorite recliner. He also continued expanding his entrepreneurial vision through Builditect, pursuing various residential and commercial construction and design ventures. Across every chapter of his career—whether in aviation, construction, or business ownership—Tom’s creativity, ambition, and entrepreneurial spirit were unmistakable.
Most central to Tom’s life was his faith. He was a man grounded in Scripture and deeply connected to his church, remaining actively involved in worship, service, and spiritual community throughout every season of his life. He affirmed that faith publicly when he was baptized as an adult, marking a defining moment in his spiritual journey. Even during periods of personal struggle, Tom never lost sight of God’s presence or grace. His faith remained his anchor and his source of Hope, which he had engraved on his watches as a constant reminder of his trust in God’s promises and the hope that guided his life. In his later years, facing personal challenges that tested him deeply, he remained unwavering in his faith and trust in God’s mercy and redemption. It was Tom’s heartfelt desire that all those around him might come to know the God he knew—a God of grace, forgiveness, and enduring love. He was known to place a Bible in the foundation at the front door of every home he ever built, because he wanted to bless and protect the owners as they entered their home. He believed that no life was beyond restoration and that faith could sustain a person through even the hardest trials. He was a proud member of Lakepointe Forney Church, and gave freely and willingly so that God’s grace could be shared with all.
Tom was preceded in death by his stepfather, William “Bill” Kent. He is survived by his father, Thomas L. Green Sr. (Sharilyn Burres); his mother, Joan Lea Kent; the mothers of his children, Eugenia Clifton and Brenda Castillo; his sister, Tina Johnson (Corey); his children, Whitney Wauters (Tyler), Celeste Green (Satya Patel), Hayes Green (Courtney), and Austin Hinojosa (Cristina Valenzuela); his nephews, Brannigan Gonzales and Jeshua Johnson; and his grandchildren, Avery Wauters, Brooks Wauters, and Noah Hinojosa.
Tom will be remembered as a man of steadfast faith, a devoted father, a visionary builder, and someone who never stopped believing in God’s power to redeem, restore, and guide. His life stands as a testament to grace—and to his enduring hope that others might come to know the same God who carried him through every season.
