Thomas “Tom” Ljungquist
Thomas “Tom” Ljungquist, age 47, passed away leaving behind a legacy of laughter and a family who loved him dearly. Tom was known for his sharp wit and an infectious laugh that could fill any room. He brought a unique intensity and humor to everything he did, and his family fondly remembers his passion for watching the New York Giants.
To Tom, his children were the greatest joy of his life. He was a father who always made them laugh and had a special name for each of them: Kayla was his “Monkey Bear,” Chloe was his “Pooka Bear,” and Elliot was “Elbobobbins.” His children remember him as someone who truly tried his best and whose humor was a constant in their lives. Whether it was Kayla’s early memories of watching Giants games with him on TV, sharing a laugh with his daughters, or playing video games with his son, those moments were defined by Tom’s playful spirit.
Tom also had a deep love for board games, which became a meaningful way for his family to come together. From childhood through adulthood, he found joy in playing them, and he cherished the time spent gathered around the table. Board games were more than just a pastime for Tom—they were a way to bond, to laugh, and to bring everyone closer, creating memories his family will always hold onto.
Tom shared an exceptionally close and tender bond with his mother, Pat. To her, he was one of her life’s greatest blessings—a source of constant love and joy. He is also remembered for his childhood years playing baseball and football, where his father, Jon, served as his coach and supporter during those shared seasons on the field.
In addition to his family, Tom leaves behind cherished friendships that spanned his entire life. This includes Greg, a lifelong friend since childhood, and his current roommate and friend, Eddie. He also leaves behind Melissa Eldridge, with whom he shared a special bond and friendship.
Tom is survived by his three children: Kayla, daughter of Melissa Eldridge; and Chloe and Elliot, children of Nicole Reynolds. He is also survived by his parents, Pat and Jon Ljungquist; his sister, Amy Nichols, with whom he shared a unique bond of playful sarcasm and spirited debate; his half-siblings, Samantha and Ava; and his beloved nieces, Lily and Violet.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date, when family and friends can gather to honor his memory together.
