Thomas "Tom" Walter Savage III, 55, of Fort Knox, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2025, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who served over 11 years with honor and distinction and will be remembered for his dedication to service, love for family, and unwavering sense of humor.
Born on January 4, 1970, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, Tom grew up in Winchendon and graduated from St. Bernard's High School. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1991, earning the rank of Sergeant and completing a tour of duty in Bosnia. He was awarded commendations for his exemplary service and leadership and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, and Fort Knox, Kentucky. Tom was known for his work in Human Resources, processing cadet admissions and deployment.
After retiring from the military, Tom transitioned to a civilian role in the same capacity. A lifelong learner, he was a Ph.D. candidate at Liberty University, pursuing Organizational Management and Leadership. He earned a Master's Degree in Management, an MBA in Human Resources Management and Services, and a Bachelor's Degree in Management.
Tom enjoyed good-natured humor, cheering for The New England Patriots and The Boston Red Sox, indulging in ice cream, and spending time at home with his family, friends, and his beloved dogs, Cookie, Tinkerbell, and Archie. He loved vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, visiting extended family, and exploring genealogy with his mother, tracing roots back to the American Revolution.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Irene; his children, Allison Beth Brown, Thomas Cameron (Brittany) SparrowSavage, SSG Spencer (Stephanie) Michael Savage and stepchildren Tyler (Evan), Ashely and Austin. His mother, Patricia Ann Savage and sisters Elizabeth (David) Lorna Fish and Sarah (Matthew) Rebecca Callander. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Walter Savage Jr., and his brother, Nathaniel Aaron Savage.
To honor his final wishes, a funeral service with full military honors will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Templeton, Massachusetts. The time and date of the service will be shared once arrangements have been made.
