Thomas (Tom) Williams of Loma Linda, California, died on December 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 16, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to James and Pearl Williams.
After completing high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service from 1948 to 1952. He attended Andrews University, graduating with a B.A. in Religion and a B.S. in Elementary Education. This was followed by an M.A. in Counseling from Andrews University Theological Seminary, after which he served as a pastor in the Wisconsin Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. He later earned a Doctorate in Education from Western Michigan University, where he also served as an Associate Professor of Counseling and Director of the Graduate Specialty Program in Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
Following this academic work, he completed 20 years of service at Battle Creek Adventist Hospital, beginning as a chaplain and ultimately serving as President and CEO. Throughout his career, he authored several books and lectured extensively on alcoholism and drug abuse.
Tom was married for 65 years to his beloved wife, Audrey, who passed away in 2021. Together they shared a passion for travel, visiting 76 countries across all seven continents. He lived a full life, characterized by integrity, hard work, and a wonderful sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey; five brothers; and one sister. A loving father and grandfather, he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his three children: Teri (Mark), Tom, and Tonyce (Phil); daughter-in-law Hazel and his five beloved grandchildren: Chris (who was also his caregiver), Jeremy (Arina), Chantel (Sam), Thomas, and Allison. He taught us how to live life to the fullest—even to the very end.
A Celebration of Life service for Tom and Audrey will be held on January 25, at Loma Linda University Church. Military Funeral Honors at Riverside National Center are pending. Memorial contributions, in honor of their lifelong commitment to education, may be directed to Battle Creek Academy, 480 Parkway Drive, Battle Creek, MI 49037.
